Approval Process for Course Requests

Once a Course Request has been entered, the following parties must sign off for final approval:

Parent or guardian

  1. An email notice will be sent;
  2. Parent or guardian can log in to Genius;
  3. The course request will appear on their Dashboard;
  4. They will check “AFFIRMED” or “NOT AFFIRMED” (these terms are taken from the OLL law);
  5. An email notification will be sent to the student’s counselor and NSO staff;
  6. A parent or guardian with difficulty gaining access to Genius can affirm by other means, and NSO will document and enter their decision.

School counselor

  1. An email notice will be sent;
  2. Counselor can log in to Genius;
  3. The course request will appear on their list of requests;
  4. They will check “VERIFIED” or “NOT VERIFIED” (these terms are taken from the OLL law);
  5. An email notification will be sent to the student’s counselor and NSO staff;
  6. A counselor with difficulty gaining access to Genius can verify by other means, and NSO will document and enter their decision.

NSO approval

  1. Once confirmation from parent/guardian and counselor have been received, NSO will review and accept the enrollment;
  2. NSO staff will then assign the student to a section;
  3. An email notification will be sent with further instructions to log in to the course.
